Prof Olabisi Adeleye Adekeye, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, UNILORIN
The Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. O. A. Adekeye, has lauded the leadership style of his immediate predecessor, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba, describing him as a dedicated scholar and administrator who significantly advanced the Faculty.Prof. Adekeye made the commendation last Monday (December 1, 2025) during a reception organised by the Faculty at the Faculty Board Room to honour Prof. Alafara alongside several other staff members.The honourees included the immediate past Sub-Dean, Dr Omolayo A. Omorinoye; Faculty Accountant, Mr Femi A. Ogunsanya; Caretaker, Mr Kola S. Adekeye; Senior Executive Officer, Mr Bamidele Akinsola; Chief Secretarial Assistant, Alhaja Ajibike S. Onaolapo; and the Dean’s Driver, Mr Abdul Sallam Abdulrasaq.Reflecting on Prof. Alafara’s tenure, Prof. Adekeye highlighted the numerous achievements that elevated the Faculty to a position among the University’s leading academic units. He also commended the other honourees for their individual and collective contributions to the Faculty’s success.Assuring the audience of his commitment to building on Prof. Alafara’s legacy, Prof. Adekeye pledged to lead faculty members and students toward sustained excellence.In response, Prof. Alafara thanked the Faculty management and staff, attributing the accomplishments of his tenure to the collective support of all members. He encouraged continued support for Prof. Adekeye to ensure the Faculty remains a source of pride.The reception concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to Prof. Alafara and the other honourees.
