Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman, Vice Chancellor, KWASUED
A Lecturer in the Department of Educational Management at the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED), Ilorin, Mrs Nusirat Omofolake Oniyeye, has applauded the University of Ilorin for its sustained support toward the growth and stabilisation of emerging universities within and beyond Kwara State.
Speaking with the UNILORIN Bulletin last Wednesday (December 3, 2025), Mrs Oniyeye noted that, as the premier institution in the state, UNILORIN has consistently played a developmental role by strengthening younger universities and helping them build institutional capacity.
She highlighted KWASUED’s direct benefits from this support, noting that its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman, and University Librarian, Dr Akanbi, are both products of UNILORIN.
She added that the University’s Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, was also a former Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN.
Mrs Oniyeye further explained that several senior academics from UNILORIN continue to provide strategic guidance to KWASUED, with some currently serving on sabbatical.
She noted that a significant number of KWASUED’s staff members are either alumni of UNILORIN or of institutions it nurtures.
She expressed optimism that UNILORIN will deepen its collaboration with KWASUED and other newer institutions in the state, in line with the objectives of the Consortium of Universities in Kwara State (Ku8+).
