Prof Abdulkarim Oloyede, Director of the Centre for Research Development and In-House Training, UNILORIN
The Director of the Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training at the University of Ilorin, Prof Abdulkarim Oloyede, has been named the new Secretary-General of the Nigerian Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (NigeriaLics).
NigeriaLics, the Nigerian chapter of AfricaLics, links researchers, policymakers and practitioners working on innovation and development across the continent. The appointment was confirmed in a letter dated October 4, in which the President of the NigeriaLics Scientific Board, Dr Maruf Sanni, praised Prof Oloyede’s academic record and commitment to the organisation’s goals.
Dr Sanni said a rigorous review of all shortlisted candidates showed Prof Oloyede’s qualifications and experience stood out, adding that his leadership would help strengthen research collaboration and support emerging scholars in science, technology and development studies.
A specialist in wireless systems and internet governance, Prof Oloyede teaches in the Department of Telecommunications at Unilorin and has over a decade of academic and industry experience. He previously served as a consultant to the African Telecommunications Union at the World Telecommunication Development Conference in 2021.
NigeriaLics aims to build research capacity for inclusive and sustainable development in Nigeria and across Africa.
