UNILORIN Targets Stronger Alumni Support After Golden Jubilee

Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya, Director of the Centre for Advancement at UNILORIN

The Director of the Centre for Advancement at the University of Ilorin, Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya, says the institution will capitalise on insights gained before and during its Golden Jubilee to attract greater backing from alumni and stakeholders.

Speaking on December 3 in an interview with the UNILORIN Bulletin, Prof. Yahya noted that the Centre is now better positioned to mobilise sustained support as the University intensifies efforts to become Nigeria’s top institution, rank among Africa’s top 10, and secure a spot within the world’s top 500.

Prof. Yahya, who chaired the Alumni Day Sub-Committee during the anniversary, said the celebrations revealed a strong willingness among graduates to contribute to the University’s growth.

He described their turnout at various stages of the Jubilee as evidence that UNILORIN has a committed alumni base driven by loyalty and pride.

He commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, along with staff and students, for delivering a successful milestone celebration.

According to him, the 50th anniversary significantly boosted the University’s visibility nationwide and reinforced its positioning as a leading academic institution with substantial potential for greater global impact.
