UNIPORT Best Graduate Shares Strategy for Success

Victory Abanjo, the overall best-graduating student of the University of Port Harcourt, has attributed her academic success to discipline, focus, and personal study.  She graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.89 in Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling.

Speaking in an interview, Abanjo said she avoided distractions, including romantic relationships, to remain focused. “I ended my last relationship in 200-level and stayed out of relationships for the rest of my time in school,” she explained.

She also emphasised that her study method was self-driven rather than conventional. “I did not follow the day or night reader categories. I read whenever I felt the urge, and when I did, I would put in at least three solid hours,” she said.

Abanjo combined studies with consistent lecture attendance, which reduced the need for extra revision before examinations. She also mentioned balancing academics with rest, social activities, and short breaks to maintain consistency.
