academic staff members from the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) have returned to Nigeria after a week-long academic visit to Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) in Romania, supported by the European Union Erasmus Mobility Programme.

According to a press release signed by Professor Fidelis Allen, who coordinated the trip, the lecturers visited the Faculty of Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (FSPAC) at UBB in two batches. The first group arrived in Cluj-Napoca on May 31, while the second group arrived on June 9, 2025. During their academic visit, the scholars took advantage of the opportunity to participate in various academic activities, including teaching, training, and sharing research ideas and experiences with both students and faculty at the host university. They also held discussions on future collaborations between UNIPORT and FSPAC scholars.

The partnership between the two universities, which is set to last for five years, also includes plans for student exchange programmes under the EU Erasmus initiative. Professor Fidelis Allen, the programme coordinator, expressed gratitude on behalf of the team to the leadership of the University of Port Harcourt, Babes-Bolyai University, and the European Union for making the opportunity possible.
