Prof. Bond Anyaechie, appointed as Nnamdi Azikiwe University substantive Vice-Chancellor
The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has appointed Prof. Bond Anyaechie as its substantive Vice-Chancellor VC) on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
His appointment followed that of Prof. Bernard Odoh, which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reversed after a year.
Olugbenga Kukoyi, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the institution’s governing council, described Anyaechie’s appointment as thorough and transparent.
Anyaechie, who is now a Vice-Chancellor, began his academic career at the College of Medicine, Imo State University in 2002 as a part-time lecturer.
He moved on to the University of Nigeria, where he later became a reader in 2007 and was promoted to a professor of physiology and clinical measurement in 2013.
