Alewo Johnson Akubo, the Vice-Chancellor of Salem University, has urged the federal government (FG) to support private universities by reducing taxes and investing in infrastructure.
The Vice-Chancellor appealed at a pre-convocation press briefing, stating that private universities need the government’s support to succeed.
Reiterating the university’s commitment to improving its achievements, the Vice-Chancellor said the 7th convocation ceremony will graduate 168 students.
In addition, he applauded the media for its support in projecting the university’s image, urging them to sustain the relationship.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the university now has approval to run postgraduate diplomas, Master’s, and PhD programmes in courses including law, mass communication, biochemistry, and international relations.
He also stated that the university will expand innovation and research by introducing courses in architecture and environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, and engineering.
