The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2025 WASSCE results, revealing a significant drop in candidates’ performance across Nigeria. Out of 1,841,941 candidates who sat for the examinations, only 76.15% obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, a decline from the 80.56% recorded in 2024. WAEC attributed the drop to increased cases of malpractice and examination anxiety. The body also noted that over 262,803 results are currently being withheld pending investigation into various infractions. Despite the decline, WAEC said it remains committed to improving examination integrity and assessment standards
