Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister suspends Danlami Hayyo, the mandate secretary for education
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has suspended Danlami Hayyo, the mandate secretary for education, following an unauthorised memo instructing early closure of government schools in Abuja. The memo, signed by Aishatu Sani Alhassan, director of school services, cited unspecified security threats and directed schools to close on or before November 28.
The FCT Administration disowned the memo, describing it as “false and misleading,” and confirmed that the academic calendar remains unchanged. Security agencies have been fully deployed, and normal school activities continue without disruption. Disciplinary action against Alhassan has been ordered.
