The Zamfara State Government has pledged full support for the newly established Federal University of Medical Sciences and Health Technology, Tsafe.

Governor Dauda Lawal made the commitment while receiving the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Yakasai, and his management team at the Government House.

Lawal reiterated that his administration had declared states of emergency in both education and health to underscore its commitment to revitalising the sectors, noting that the new university aligns with those priorities. “My administration has invested over ₦8 billion in the school, and we will ensure a smooth start,” he said, promising land, funding, and infrastructure support to aid the university’s development.

In response, Yakasai commended the governor’s reforms in education and healthcare, describing the university as the first of its kind in Nigeria dedicated to health sciences and medical technology.

He assured that with the state government’s backing, the institution would bridge gaps in access to modern medical education and equipment.
