David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, has taken a leading role in advancing academic innovation and research partnerships in Nigeria through its National Summit on Inter-University Collaboration, Access to TETFund Research Fund and Moving Research to Policy.
The one-day summit gathered academics and policymakers to develop strategies for translating scientific research into evidence-based government policies.
DUFUHS Vice Chancellor, Prof Jesse Uneke, said the initiative was designed to build a sustainable framework for collaboration among universities, stressing that collective effort would improve access to research funding and strengthen national policy development.
“This summit is about building bridges and helping one another grow. No university can thrive in isolation,” Uneke said, noting that future editions would include private universities.
Other speakers emphasised the importance of leveraging TETFund support to drive research and innovation. Ebonyi State officials praised DUFUHS for its leadership, while Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration reassured its commitment to advancing higher education through the People’s Charter of Needs policy.
