Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved full scholarships for all qualified indigenes pursuing health-related courses at Igbinedion University, Benin City, Edo State.
The Executive Secretary of Zamfara State Scholarship Board, Prof. Rasheedah Liman, said the selected students were screened and interviewed before being sent to the university to commence studies. She noted that the scholarships are fully sponsored by Governor Lawal.
Liman praised the governor for creating the opportunity, highlighting it as part of his ongoing commitment to education.
Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Lawal has implemented an emergency rule in education, focusing on rebuilding infrastructure, paying outstanding exam fees, improving teachers’ welfare, and fostering a conducive learning environment.
The initiative follows previous scholarship schemes, including support for Zamfara students at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, and tuition payments for those studying in India.
The governor’s interventions aim to enhance educational access and create pathways for Zamfara youths to pursue professional courses critical to the state’s development.
