AAUA VC Says Tenure Impacted All Targeted Areas

The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has described his tenure, which began in July 2021, as fulfilling, noting significant progress in all targeted areas. He spoke on Monday at the university’s 14th convocation ceremony.

Prof. Ige highlighted achievements, including strengthened staff and student welfare, enhanced academic integrity, improved internally generated revenue, expanded research and digital learning, modernised infrastructure, and peace on campus.

He noted that 109 academics were promoted to professorship, while timely promotions were ensured for other staff categories.

A total of 5,799 students graduated, including 32 First Class, 1,444 Second Class Upper, and 3,177 Second Class Lower. Graduates comprise 5,251 undergraduates, 526 postgraduates, and 22 diploma students.

The Vice-Chancellor also outlined efforts to address accommodation challenges, noting ongoing construction by the alumni association and NDDC, as well as potential private partnerships. He invited participants to the Research, Development and Innovation Fair, athletic competitions, and convocation lecture scheduled as part of the ceremonies.

Prof. Ige emphasised that the university’s progress reflects a deliberate effort to position AAUA as a leading institution in academic excellence, innovation and community service.
