Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced new leadership appointments to strengthen its academic and energy management teams.
In a press release signed by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the university announced that Professor Emmanuel A. Adedokun has been appointed as the new Director of the Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT). He takes over from Malam Muhammad Shuaibu Umar.
Professor Adedokun is a member of the Department of Computer Engineering. His appointment took effect from Monday, June 16, 2025. According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, the appointment is based on Prof Adedokun’s leadership and administrative skills. He encouraged him to be honest and fair in his work and to use his new role to lift both the institute and the university.
Furthermore, Engineer Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has been appointed as the Acting Head of the Bulk Metering Unit. He works at the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT) and is taking over from Engineer Dahiru Mu’azu Dalhat. His appointment begins on Monday, June 16, 2025, and will last for six months. The Vice-Chancellor stated that the university selected Engr. Abubakar, due to his experience in research and energy. He urged him to use his knowledge to improve ABU’s energy system. The appointments are part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance both academic excellence and internal services.
