The Adamawa State Government has inaugurated a committee to oversee the recruitment of 5,000 teachers aimed at improving public education across the state.
The committee, inaugurated by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Umar Garba Pella, will screen and select successful candidates from more than 18,000 applicants within two weeks.
It is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Umar, with the Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board, Birsan Penuel, as co-chair.
Members include representatives from the State Universal Basic Education Board, the Civil Service Commission, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, and the Office of the Head of Service.
Mr Pella said the recruitment exercise would be conducted with fairness and transparency to address manpower shortages in public schools.
He warned committee members against malpractice and urged them to uphold integrity throughout the process.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen the education sector and improve teaching standards in the state.
