Aptech, a global IT education company with 65 centres in Nigeria, states that it has spent ₦461 million on scholarships for Nigerian students in 2025 and reduced the cost of sponsoring a child in some foreign universities by 71%.
The company announced the figures on Thursday in Port Harcourt at its 17th Career Quest event, where it also awarded ₦36m in scholarships to students in Rivers State.
Assistant Vice President for Africa and the Middle East, Seetham Thakuri, said Aptech’s diploma and advanced diploma programmes in Nigeria allow students to complete most of their studies locally before transferring credits to partner universities abroad.
He said the arrangement means families pay for only the final year overseas, with Middlesex University in London charging around ₦32m in tuition.
Rajeev Venugopal, Aptech’s Chief Executive Officer, said the initiative was designed to address Nigeria’s high unemployment rate by equipping young people with industry-ready skills.
Middlesex University’s regional manager for Nigeria, Oluchi Nwagbara, stated that the institution offers discounts to Aptech graduates and opportunities for part-time and post-study employment.
At the event, four students won scholarships for study in Nigeria and the UK through a lottery draw.
