Atiba University, Oyo, has inducted its second set of Nursing Science graduates into the profession. The ceremony, held on campus and organised in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), saw 35 graduating students formally admitted into the nursing profession.
Founder and President of the institution, Dr. James Ojebode, stated that the event affirmed the university’s mission to produce competent, character-driven professionals. He noted that Atiba University was conceived as a hub for leadership and innovation, not just another academic institution. Ojebode stated that the university has invested in top-tier faculty, modern laboratories, ethical instruction, and hospital partnerships to ensure global-standard training for its nursing students.
He expressed gratitude to parents, guardians, and the NMCN for their continued support, assuring the graduates that their education had prepared them for national and global relevance.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Okeniyi, added that Atiba’s nursing students undergo rigorous clinical and research training, supported by partnerships with accredited hospitals including LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Oluyoro, and Adeoyo General Hospital. Guest speaker, Dr. Olufemi Makinde, delivered a lecture titled “Nursing Profession as Caregiver and Role Model.” She urged the inductees to see nursing as both a scientific and humanitarian calling. Every action must be guided by evidence, every decision by knowledge,” she emphasised, calling on nurses to be leaders and change agents in healthcare.
Additionally, a former Director of Nursing Services in Oyo State praised Atiba’s commitment to producing high-quality graduates. NMCN Registrar, Dr. Alhassan Ndagi (represented by Hassan Abdullah), commended the university for upholding excellence and advised the graduates to practice with empathy, integrity, and professionalism throughout their careers.
