BUK Student Sets Provisional Guinness World Record for Face Painting

A final-year Civil Engineering student at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Collins Chukwuemeka Whitworth, has provisionally broken a Guinness World Record for face painting.

On October 1, 2025, Whitworth painted 20 faces in just 2 minutes and 55 seconds during an event at the university’s new campus, surpassing the current record of 12 faces held by Slovakia’s Emilia Zakonnova. Sponsored by Indomie, the attempt was Whitworth’s second major record bid, following his “Paintathon” in January 2024, where he aimed to paint 720 faces in 24 hours.

Whitworth, a Delta State native, said the experience of his first attempt helped him prepare for this record-breaking performance. “With Indomie backing me, I believe we can make history together,” he said.

The university community praised his skill and determination. Fellow student Sulaiman Haruna described the attempt as “excellent,” while another attendee, Jimoh Momoh, called it “remarkable.”

Indomie said the event reflected its commitment to supporting youth creativity and innovation in Nigeria. The Guinness World Records is reviewing the attempt before confirming Whitworth as the new record holder, a decision eagerly awaited by students and supporters nationwide.
