Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, newly inaugurated President of CILT Nigeria
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria has announced plans to secure an Act of Parliament granting it full authority to regulate professional standards in the transport and logistics sector.
The initiative, codenamed “Project 2027,” was unveiled by newly inaugurated President Dr Boboye Oyeyemi during his investiture in Lagos.
Project 2027 aims to protect CILT’s chartered status, ensure national recognition of its qualifications, and strengthen statutory influence across the sector.
Dr Oyeyemi outlined an innovation-driven agenda, including the CILT Digital Academy, hybrid learning, a National Mentorship Scheme, and the establishment of a CILT Innovation and Research Hub focused on AI in logistics, innovative freight systems, and green supply chains.
The initiative also includes annual data-driven reports, a Policy Advisory Council, and sustainability programmes such as the CILT Green Logistics Initiative.
Eight strategic pillars: membership expansion, sector alignment, employer recognition, research, curriculum reform, digital transformation, financial sustainability, and regional leadership, will guide the Institute through 2027.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola and Special Guest Prof. Wole Soyinka praised Oyeyemi’s vision. At the same time, outgoing President Mfon Usoro highlighted her administration’s achievements, including expanded membership, improved compliance, and financial growth.
Dr Oyeyemi pledged that CILT Nigeria will lead sectoral transformation, deepen global engagement, and position the country as West Africa’s logistics hub.
