CITN Invests Taofiq Alabi as Ilorin District Chairman

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has invested Taofiq Alabi as the 7th Chairman of its Ilorin & District Society, alongside the inauguration of the new Executive Committee. The ceremony was held on Saturday, October 22, at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Kwara State.

CITN President, Innocent Ohagwa, commended the district for its professionalism and support for the institute’s goals. He congratulated the new Chairman and executive, urging them to build on the legacies of past leaders.

Speaking on recent tax reforms, Ohagwa assured that the measures would favour low-income earners and small businesses. He noted that firms with annual turnover below ₦100 million or assets under ₦250 million are exempted from tax but must file returns to confirm eligibility.

In his address, Alabi pledged to strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote tax education at the grassroots. He said the district would collaborate with the Kwara State Government, business associations, and trade groups to dispel misinformation about the reforms. The event attracted dignitaries from government, academia and professional bodies, including representatives of traditional institutions.
