The Cross River State Ministry of Education has scheduled a stakeholders’ meeting with private school proprietors to address issues affecting the sector.
The Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, announced the meeting while receiving members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), who paid him a courtesy visit in Calabar. The meeting is set for Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Professor Odey said private schools play a key role in supporting government efforts to improve education, stressing the need for closer collaboration. “Education is a global enterprise that requires synergy and innovation,” he said.
The delegation, led by State NAPPS Chairman Pastor Abraham Osok, commended the ministry for reforms such as the digital release of placement results, which they described as a significant step forward in the delivery of education.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barrister Francis Oyije, urged private schools to comply with regulations, assuring proprietors of the government’s commitment to providing a supportive environment.
The upcoming meeting is expected to discuss pressing challenges facing private schools and explore ways to strengthen education in the state.
