The Governing Council of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Majesty Barr. Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II, ahead of his investiture as Chancellor of the institution.

The Pro-Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Olu Obafemi, who led the delegation, said the visit was to familiarise the council with the Chancellor-Designate before the official ceremony, which will take place on November 29 at the university’s campus in Osara.

“I am delighted to meet His Royal Majesty in person,” Professor Obafemi said. “This meeting strengthens our collaboration as we prepare for the investiture.”

CUSTECH Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, conveyed the goodwill of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the monarch, adding that preparations for the event were in top gear.

In his remarks, the Onojie thanked the governors of Kogi and Edo states for their roles in his appointment and promised to work towards advancing the university’s development.

“I pray that CUSTECH, already regarded as the fastest-growing state university in Nigeria, will soon become a centre of excellence,” he said. The visit was attended by traditional chiefs, academics, and dignitaries, and featured cultural performances and a royal banquet at the palace.
