Delta Polytechnic Students Accuse HOD of Extortion

Students of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, have raised an alarm against their Head of Department (HOD) of Mass Communication, Mr Chuks Nwabudike, accusing him of extortion.

According to the students, especially those in ND II and HND II, their results are being withheld and not posted on the notice board. Instead, they are allegedly asked to pay for remedial classes before knowing whether they failed or not. Each course is reportedly priced at N23,000, and those with numerous carryovers are charged significantly more.

Some of the aggrieved students, who pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation, also alleged that the HOD reduces marks or even alters scripts just to make them fail and pay for the costly remedial.

The situation has caused severe tension and frustration on campus, as students are now demanding transparency and fairness. If proven true, the allegations could tarnish the image of the department and the polytechnic as a whole.
