The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (KTPCACC) recently disclosed that it has launched investigations into alleged fraud involving secondary school principals and local government officials, with missing funds running into millions of naira.
According to the commission, four principals in Danja, Rimaye, Maigora, and Kurami are being probed for mismanaging ₦6.6 million in school funds. One of them is also accused of illegally selling government-owned school property worth millions.
The probe is part of wider investigations into alleged fraud of about ₦188.6 million across the state. Some key officials in Musawa, Malumfashi, Matazu, Faskari, and Funtua LGAs were accused of diverting fertiliser subsidy funds, with amounts ranging from ₦52,000 to over ₦25 million. Some suspects have already admitted guilt and begun repayments.
In another case, ₦136 million was allegedly misappropriated from the state’s Department of Banking and Finance, with ₦70 million recovered so far. The commission vowed to recover all stolen public funds and ensure accountability.
