Fifty secondary school students in Lagos have commenced a 10-week cybersecurity awareness and empowerment programme designed to equip them with vital digital skills.
The training, organised by Cybernova Limited in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lagos, will expose participants to 10 modules, including cybersecurity basics, ethical hacking, identity management, cyber threat awareness, cyber law, data privacy, and responsible use of social media.
President of the Rotary Club of Lagos, Toki Mabogunje, stated that the initiative was established to safeguard young people from online dangers while preparing them for technology-driven careers. She noted that misinformation and cyber risks remain major threats to youths in the country, making it crucial to arm them with knowledge and practical skills.
Organisers believe that the programme is important because it will not only safeguard students but also empower them with marketable expertise for the future. The project aims to position participants as digital leaders capable of navigating and shaping Nigeria’s rapidly growing tech space.
