Dominican College in Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, held its graduation and prize-giving day on August 3, 2025. The school celebrated students who excelled in their studies, behaviour, and practical skills.
The event was full of colour, with music, poems, and cultural dances showing Nigeria’s rich culture. Parents and other guests were happy and clapped for the students. Students received awards in three areas: “head” for academic achievement, “heart” for good behaviour, and “hand” for showing functional skills. Guest speaker and founder of the Akada Children’s Book Festival, Olubunmi Aboderin-Talabi, encouraged students to value quality education. She spoke on the theme “Education is Not a Scam,” noting that the school was rightly challenging misleading online messages. “Education gives you important life tools, including communication, critical thinking, creativity, and social skills. It is not just about certificates, but about preparing for the real world,” she said. The day ended with cheers, smiles, and hope for the future.
