The Federal Ministry of Education says it is considering a partnership with the National Education Awards Programmes (NEAP), a non-governmental organisation that supports youth development through scholarships and advocacy.
Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, gave the assurance in Abuja during a courtesy visit by NEAP officials. She said the Ministry was open to collaboration but stressed the need for a clear framework to guide the initiative.
NEAP’s Chairman, Engr. Anslem Ijebor said the group runs a “Catch Them Young” scheme, which rewards high-performing students in WAEC, NECO, and BECE examinations with scholarships ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦500,000. He added that the programme also promotes reading culture, girl-child education, and campaigns against harmful practices among young people.
Officials from both sides agreed to explore a formal structure for cooperation that would complement government reforms in the education sector.
