EL-LAB, an ISO-certified diagnostic and research centre in Lagos State, has successfully transitioned to the ISO 15189:2022 standard, the highest global benchmark for medical laboratories. The announcement coincided with this year’s World Quality Week, themed “Quality: Think Differently.”
Blessing Nwakobi, EL-LAB’s Quality Assurance Manager, highlighted that the accreditation proves the centre’s 27-year commitment to excellence, safety, and impartiality in medical testing across Lagos. Established in 1998, EL-LAB has consistently made significant contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
The ISO 15189:2022 framework adopted by EL-LAB emphasises patient-centred services, risk-based thinking, continuous improvement, staff competence, and training.
Nwakobi noted that the risk-based approach ensures proactive management of activities that could affect patient outcomes, guaranteeing accuracy and integrity throughout the testing process.
