The Federal Government has announced the 2025 edition of the National Girls Leadership Essay Competition, calling on young female Nigerians to submit entries.
The competition, themed “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the front lines of crisis”, is open to participants aged between 10 and 20. Organisers say the initiative aims to amplify the voices of girls and highlight their role in driving change, particularly in times of crisis.
According to the announcement, the top three winners will receive cash prizes and automatic participation in the Girls Future Conference (GFC2025), scheduled for later this year. The event is expected to bring together young female leaders, policymakers, and advocates for gender equality.
Applications close on October 28 2025, with submission details available online. Officials encouraged schools, parents, and guardians to support eligible candidates to take part.
The competition forms part of broader government efforts to promote leadership skills and civic engagement among young women, as well as to foster inclusivity in national development.
