The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr Taofeek AbdulHameed, has urged students to acquire vocational and technical skills in addition to their academic studies. He said this will help them create jobs for themselves and others after graduation.

Dr AbdulHameed made the call during a sensitisation webinar on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship education held by the polytechnic. Represented by the school’s librarian, Dr Samuel Ogunniyi, the Rector said the management is committed to training students to become innovative and enterprising. The webinar featured a talk by SEAD Africa’s Team Lead, who advised students to take their education seriously but also build skills through internships, volunteering, continuous learning, and leadership development.

Mr. Oluwaseun Owojori, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, thanked the management, speaker, and students for their participation. He encouraged students to put what they learnt into practice and prepare a written “Aspiration Plan” to guide their future.
