The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has encouraged beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) National Scholarship Programme to combine their studies with productive side hustles to prepare for life after graduation.
The mid-term assessment and interactive session for the 47 scholars—one from each state and the FCT, now in 300 level—was held in Abuja. Each scholar receives ₦1 million and a laptop provided through a collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
In her remarks, the First Lady urged students not to rely solely on the scholarship but to explore small jobs or side projects that support their studies and future careers.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Vice President’s wife, the wives of governors, education commissioners, and the Director-General of NITDA. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, praised her commitment to youth empowerment, noting that the ministry has awarded over ₦4 billion in scholarships and disbursed ₦10 billion in student support nationwide.
