FUNAAB FST Holds 3rd Induction Ceremony for NIFST Membership
The Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), held its third induction ceremony for 81 graduates into the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) on November 18, 2025.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof Olawale Dairo urged the inductees to embrace lifelong learning, dedication, and ethical practice, stressing that professional growth extends beyond academics.
He commended the Department and College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) for producing skilled professionals capable of transforming Nigeria’s food sector through research and innovation.
Dean of COLFHEC, Prof Adebukunola Omemu, highlighted the inductees’ resilience and called on them to uphold integrity and societal relevance in their careers.
Head of FST, Prof Olatundun Kajihausa, noted that NIFST membership would provide networking, collaboration, and advancement opportunities, encouraging graduates to contribute to national development through research and community initiatives.
Goodwill messages were delivered by NIFST representatives, including Dr Bola Osinowo and Prof Bolanle Akinwande, who described the induction as a transition from academic life to professional practice.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the new members, marking a significant step in their professional journeys.
