FUNAAB’s DACIS Trains Academic Staff Ahead of First Semester Examinations
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has stepped up preparations for its First Semester Examinations with a workshop to improve academic staff’s digital assessment capabilities.
Held on 2 December at the ICT Building, the training was organised by the University’s Directorate of Academic Information Systems (DACIS). Lecturers were introduced to QPACKS, a digital tool for creating objective questions on FUNAAB’s e-Examination platform, and the Authoring Manager System, designed to streamline course material and assessment preparation.
Director of DACIS, Professor Olusegun Folorunso, said the initiative was critical as the University embraces technology-driven assessments to cater to its growing student population. He stressed that familiarity with digital tools is essential for all lecturers, regardless of experience, to ensure high-quality, standardised examinations and seamless integration with the University’s Learning Management System.
Participants were selected from various departments to cascade the knowledge to colleagues, allowing broader staff engagement without disrupting academic schedules. The training focused on enhancing question quality, improving efficiency, supporting continuous assessment, and promoting collaboration among lecturers.
Professor Folorunso highlighted that the workshop is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen FUNAAB’s academic processes, with plans to continue capacity-building initiatives into the next semester to ensure sustainable improvement in digital teaching and assessment.
