The President of the Alumni Association of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Temitope Elijah Arogundade, has called on members of the university community to maintain peace and uphold the institution’s image as Vice-Chancellor Professor Abayomi Fasina resumes duty on October 14 2025.
Speaking to journalists at the weekend, Arogundade said the stability achieved under Fasina’s leadership should be sustained as the university prepares to select his successor.
He commended the vice-chancellor for fostering growth, innovation and expansion at FUOYE, describing his tenure as one marked by peace and development.
“As alumni, we are ambassadors of FUOYE. We must portray our university positively and ensure peaceful coexistence because progress only comes in a stable environment,” he said.
Arogundade expressed confidence in the university’s governing council to conduct a transparent and fair process in appointing the next vice-chancellor. He also urged alumni and staff to continue supporting the administration to consolidate its achievements.
Fasina, who assumed office in February 2021, took a six-month research leave in April, following approval from the governing council. His tenure is expected to end in February 2026.
