The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed a petition reportedly sent to the Minister of Education, Dr Tahir Mamman, by a former staff member, Mr Saka Odunjo, describing it as baseless and lacking in merit.
In a statement released in Oye-Ekiti, the university said Mr Odunjo, who was dismissed in February 2025 for serious misconduct, was no longer competent to speak on behalf of FUOYE staff or represent their interests before any authority.
Odunjo had reportedly written to the Education Minister, accusing the university of “governance failure and financial mismanagement,” and alleging an “unholy alliance” between the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina.
However, FUOYE’s management described the allegations as false and malicious, insisting that Odunjo was attempting to discredit the university after his dismissal. “Who is Saka Odunjo to speak on behalf of FUOYE members of staff? He has been dismissed on grounds of serious misconduct,” the statement read.
FUOYE reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of Senator Ndoma-Egba and Professor Fasina, who is expected to resume duties following the completion of his six-month research leave on October 14.
