The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has climbed to 11th position among Nigerian universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, improving from 12th place in the previous year.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Fasina, attributed the feat to the institution’s commitment to strategic planning, research excellence and innovation. He commended staff and faculty members for their collective effort in advancing FUOYE’s reputation.
Meanwhile, the university has cautioned a dismissed employee, Saka Odunjo, against inciting unrest within the institution. FUOYE’s management issued the warning following a petition Odunjo reportedly submitted to the Minister of Education, alleging misconduct by the university’s leadership.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Mr Folusho Ogunmodede, the university clarified that Odunjo was dismissed in February for “serious misconduct” and, therefore, lacked authority to speak for FUOYE staff.
The statement also urged Sahara Reporters to verify information before publication, accusing the platform of spreading false claims from discredited sources.
