Akindunbi Aduragbemi Isaac of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has made history as the institution’s overall best graduating student, earning a record-breaking 4.98 CGPA.
A product of Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Akindunbi attributes his success to setting clear goals, maintaining consistent study habits, and receiving mentorship from senior colleagues.
Aduragbemi, a Civil Engineering graduate, said his academic journey began in 2019 with the aim of excelling. “After seeing my first-semester result, I shifted my focus from just graduating to becoming one of the best,” he explained.
He emphasised the importance of faith, resilience, and a supportive circle of friends in overcoming challenges, including a dental issue, a skin infection, and the theft of his phone during exams.
His study regimen involved day-and-night reading, organising personal timetables, and a thorough understanding of concepts to the point of explaining them to others. “Consistency and passion for knowledge were key,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Akindunbi plans to gain practical experience in Civil Engineering and pursue advanced studies in sustainable infrastructure.
He urged undergraduates, especially in public universities, to define their purpose early, network strategically, stay motivated and maintain faith in God as the cornerstone of their success.
