The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and the Ondo State Police Command have reassured their commitment to enhancing security in and around the university. This was the outcome of a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Adenike Oladiji, by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, on Saturday.
Lawal commended FUTA students for their exemplary conduct and assured the university of the police command’s full support in safeguarding lives and property. He emphasised that security is a shared responsibility, particularly for students living off campus, and revealed plans to collaboratively establish a stakeholder platform to address security challenges.
In her response, Oladiji appreciated the Commissioner’s visit and reaffirmed FUTA’s commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment. She urged the Students’ Union to deepen collaboration with the university and security agencies to enhance student safety.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer, Okuta Elerinla, CSP Adejoke Sulaimon, and the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
