The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have agreed to expand collaboration in road safety education, transport research, and data sharing.
The agreement followed a visit by the new FRSC Niger State Sector Commander, Aishat Sa’adu, to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, on Tuesday.
Sa’adu said the corps would make transport data available to students and researchers and pledged continued support for the university’s driving school. She also sought the institution’s cooperation in admitting FRSC personnel for further studies.
Responding, Professor Kuta commended the corps’ past assistance in helping the driving school meet national standards. He said FRSC officers would be invited periodically to give sensitisation lectures on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor added that the partnership would also benefit the university’s Department of Transport and Logistics, as well as a planned programme in Supply Chain Management Technology. Officials from both sides said the collaboration is expected to improve road safety awareness while supporting academic research and training in transport-related fields.
