Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has recently commissioned several key projects in Jos as part of Democracy Day celebrations, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to good governance and infrastructure development.
The projects include 15 new metro buses to enhance public transportation, a new laboratory, a paediatric ward, and an office complex at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, as well as the Utonkon Bridge and adjoining roads along the Utonkon–Abattoir Road.
At the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi (Jos Campus), the governor also commissioned a newly constructed two-storey administrative block and a refurbished Joshua Dariye Hall. Speaking to residents who came out to welcome him at various locations, Governor Mutfwang said the projects reflect the government’s focus on meaningful development and urged citizens to take proper care of public infrastructure.
While at the Plateau State Polytechnic, he shared his government’s vision to upgrade the institution to a University of Science and Technology within the next two to five years. He noted that leadership is key to change and assured the people that his administration is determined to raise the standard of education across the state. “When you learn in a poor environment, it affects your learning. That is why we are improving not just the curriculum and quality of teachers but also the infrastructure,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang also reminded the public that how well they maintain public facilities reflects their values as a people. “We must embrace a culture of maintenance and excellence to preserve our assets for the next generation,” he added. The governor’s message received loud applause from residents, many of whom praised the renewed attention to education and infrastructure development in Plateau State.
