University students, were kidnapped in separate attacks in Rivers and Imo states on Tuesday.
In Rivers, suspected cultists abducted five students from the Emohua Satellite Campus. Eyewitnesses said the attackers killed a security dog before taking the students at gunpoint from their off-campus residence.
The victims had previously protested harassment and requested relocation to the main campus, but RSU management assured that security measures were being addressed through community and agency coordination.
The police confirmed the abduction and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
In Imo, gunmen suspected to be herders hijacked an Aba-bound bus in Ngor Okpala, abducting 14 passengers. Witnesses reported panic as the attackers fired shots and took control of the bus. Police are conducting patrols along the Owerri–Aba Express Road to investigate the incident.
Separately, the House of Representatives urged the federal government to apprehend the killers of five policemen in Sabon Sara, Bauchi.
Lawmakers called for financial and medical support for the families of the deceased and injured officers, and instructed security agencies to ensure justice and sustain operational morale.
