Hillside University Partners with US Counter-Terrorism Institute

Hillside University of Science and Technology (HUST), Okemesi, Ekiti State, has announced a partnership with the Global Counter Terrorism Institute (GCTI), United States, to introduce new Certificate and Diploma programmes in Security and Intelligence Studies.

The programmes, which will be run under the newly established Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies, aim to build capacity in counter-terrorism, intelligence, and security management across Africa.

The Africa Technical Representative of GCTI, Mr Juan-Pierre Fouche, visited the university to formalise the collaboration. He was received by the President and Vice Chancellor of HUST, along with principal officers and the Centre’s pioneer Director, Rear Admiral Leye Jaiyeola (Rtd.).

The university said the initiative would position HUST as a regional hub for advanced training in intelligence and security studies while promoting global cooperation in tackling emerging security threats.

Rear Admiral Jaiyeola described the partnership as a timely step in advancing Nigeria’s role in global security education, noting that it aligns with the university’s commitment to providing practical, research-driven learning.

The management said the collaboration reflects HUST’s broader mission to deliver innovative, globally relevant education and to strengthen Africa’s response to contemporary security challenges.
