The Federal Government is finalising plans to host a campus of the University of Birmingham in Nigeria, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has said.
Alausa recently visited the university’s Dubai campus to conclude discussions ahead of a formal agreement expected in January 2026. The University of Lagos has been selected as the local partner for the project.
The campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in fields including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Engineering, and Data Science.
The partnership aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to enhance human capital, advance technological development, and support Nigeria’s goal of a one trillion-dollar economy by 2030. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s higher education system and boost skilled manpower.
