The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has congratulated Prof Ahmed Adamu of the Department of Agronomy on his appointment as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly established University of Education, The Gambia (UEG).
The announcement was made by the country’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) on behalf of President Adama Barrow, following a competitive selection process conducted by the UEG Governing Council.
Adamu, a distinguished scholar and academic leader, has made notable contributions to teaching, research and institutional development. His appointment is expected to drive UEG’s vision of becoming a world-class teacher training university and a hub of educational excellence in Africa.
The IAR community described his elevation as both a personal milestone and a reflection of the institute’s tradition of producing visionary leaders with global impact.
IAR extended its best wishes to Adamu as he assumes his new role, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver transformative leadership.
