James Hope University (JHU), Lagos, has appointed Professor Austin Nosike as its new Vice Chancellor, marking a fresh chapter in the institution’s leadership. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Lekki campus, where Prof. Nosike was formally introduced as successor to Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiola Babajide, who was praised for steering the school through its transition period.
According to a statement signed by Registrar Dr Achugamonu Bede Uzoma, the Governing Council, Senate, and Search Committee ratified the appointment on August 8, 2025. The statement described Nosike as a “distinguished academic, administrator and visionary leader” whose experience aligns with the university’s mission.
With over three decades in higher education, Prof. Nosike has served in senior roles including Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dean, Director and Head of Department across institutions in Africa, Europe, America and Asia. His most recent academic roles were at universities across several African countries, including Burundi, Rwanda, Zambia and Uganda, where he was noted for academic and administrative excellence.
