A civil society group, MonITNG, has raised alarm over the terrible state of Government Day Secondary School in Hunkuyi, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The group described the school as unsafe and unfit for learning.
According to MonITNG, the only secondary school in the area has collapsed classrooms, fallen ceilings, and dangerous structures. Many students have stopped attending due to the unsafe environment. The group also noted that the school’s science laboratories are in a deplorable state. MonITNG accused the Kaduna State Government of neglect, despite receiving funds from the federal government, development partners, and the World Bank meant for improving schools. They called on Governor Uba Sani to declare a state of emergency in the education sector and urgently renovate the school, adding that the children of Kudan LGA deserve better.
