Kaduna State Uniianni Benzi Onlus to host a one-day virtual workshop on international grant opportunities aimed at strengthening research and innovation.
The event, held on October 20, 2025, was hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa and attended by academic staff, researchers and administrators.
Guest speaker Ms Lucia Ruggieri, a scientific officer from the Gianni Benzi Foundation, spoke on “EU Funding Opportunities for Research and Innovation.” She outlined funding structures under Horizon Europe, EU-Africa cooperation, and opportunities available to African researchers through the European Research Council and EURAXESS Africa.
The workshop facilitator, Mr Abubakar Abdulkareem, guided participants through the process of developing successful research proposals, emphasising eligibility, design, and implementation.
In his closing remarks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof Yushau Ango appreciated the Italian foundation for its collaboration and reaffirmed KASU’s commitment to expanding international research partnerships. The workshop concluded with discussions on how KASU researchers can leverage global funding frameworks to advance innovation and academic excellence.
