Kaduna State University has become the only state-owned university in Nigeria to win a N1bn competitive grant for commercial agriculture from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, has announced.
In a recent statement, Musa said the achievement reflects the institution’s growing capacity and the Kaduna State government’s focus on human capital development. He added that three KASU academics have been ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists – Professor Ibrahim Inuwa (Chemistry), Dr Daniel Yahaya Shagaiya (Mathematics) and Dr Abdullahi Yusuf Zuntu (Physics) – describing the recognition as “a historic milestone for the state and the country.”
The Vice-Chancellor credited the progress to reforms under Governor Uba Sani, noting that the university has expanded its academic structure with new colleges in science, engineering, health and pharmaceutical studies.
KASU has also forged international research partnerships with institutions such as Lomonosov Moscow State University and Universitas Indonesia, while introducing high-demand programmes including Cyber Security, Data Science and Biotechnology.
Musa said more than 50 programmes have recently been accredited by the National Universities Commission, with 47 earning full accreditation, positioning KASU as a “future-ready institution producing industry-aligned graduates.”
