Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, states that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration is demonstrating the political will necessary to reposition tertiary education in the state.
Mr Fanwo spoke on Tuesday during an inspection of projects at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Ayingba, and the College of Education, Ankpa, as part of a state media tour.
“The governor has prioritised education, and the ongoing investments in infrastructure and academic programmes reflect his determination to strengthen human capital development,” he said.
At PAAU, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mariatu Tenuche praised the government’s interventions, noting the revival of the MBBS programme, which had been suspended for 12 years. “The directive to bring back the medical programme is a landmark step,” she said, highlighting ongoing work at the College of Health Sciences and the University Teaching Hospital.
At the College of Education, Provost Professor Paul Fashagba stated that the governor’s support had “already changed the outlook of the college in just five months,” citing the installation of new boreholes, solar streetlights, and security motorcycles.
Commissioner for Works, Mohammed Yusuf, who joined the inspection, said the projects would be delivered on time and to standard.
